Saudi scientists have estimated that by 2050, Saudi Arabia will experience much hotter temperatures and less frequent rainfall due to climate.1 This increase in temperature will lead to an increase in the water demand, which will strain the water supply if there is less rainfall.2 With the climate change will likely come increased levels of ammonia, nitrogen, and phosphorus in the surface water that is used for drinking.3 The World Bank has recommended that Saudi Arabia invest in better infrastructure to manage the imminent climate change and water shortage.4 Due to Saudi Arabia's arid landscape, the country experiences few natural disasters.5
