Guatemala: Eco Stove
About This Campaign
In Santa Rosita, a community on the outskirts of Guatemala City, families cook over open fires inside enclosed spaces with no proper ventilation. This daily reality results in dangerous indoor air pollution and increases the risk of serious respiratory illnesses. Eco stoves change that. By filtering smoke out of the home, they create a cleaner, safer environment for families, especially protecting women and children who spend most of their time near the fire. The Neurotech Foundation, in partnership with New Vision Guatemala, installs these stoves during humanitarian trips. Together, we can bring health, safety, and hope to more homes in Santa Rosita. Every contribution helps provide a family with a stove that can improve their quality of life. The cost of the stove, installation, and maintenance of one stove is $350. On average we install 6 stoves a trip with an average of 2 trips a year.
