About This Campaign
Pursue Scholars is an urban leadership development nonprofit that invests in emerging leaders from neighborhoods across Chicago to influence lasting impact in our city. We train and inspire young leaders to successfully complete college while also growing as leaders. In 2020, a small group of staff and supporters of Pursue Scholars walked the entire 24 miles of Western Ave in Chicago to raise awareness and money. By the time it was finished, we had doubled our initial financial goal and raised $100,000 to invest in the emerging urban leaders. We called this campaign Pursue Unity. Pursue Unity Walk is a physical challenge that aims to unite the diverse neighborhoods of Chicago by way of leadership development and community collaboration. This journey across the city of Chicago brings our walkers through many of the diverse neighborhoods that our scholars come from. Scholars, community members, and staff will come together to honor the stories and legacies of our great city. Walking through Chicago, we hope to provide examples on how together, we can bring unity to the city. “I am drawn to be involved in Pursue Unity because of the positive impact Pursue has had on me throughout college. What better way to give back to Pursue and help on behalf of other current and future scholars like myself by participating in this walk with the goal of striving for unity. This is an opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and take steps no matter how many there are to further the purpose and vision of Pursue as they continue to impact students of Chicago.” - Myka Savage.
