About This Campaign

Pursue Scholars is an urban leadership development nonprofit that invests in emerging leaders from neighborhoods across Chicago to influence lasting impact in our city. We train and inspire young leaders to successfully complete college while also growing as leaders. In 2020, a small group of staff and supporters of Pursue Scholars walked the entire 24 miles of Western Ave in Chicago to raise awareness and money. By the time it was finished, we had doubled our initial financial goal and raised $100,000 to invest in the emerging urban leaders. We called this campaign Pursue Unity. Pursue Unity Walk is a physical challenge that aims to unite the diverse neighborhoods of Chicago by way of leadership development and community collaboration. This journey across the city of Chicago brings our walkers through many of the diverse neighborhoods that our scholars come from. Scholars, community members, and staff will come together to honor the stories and legacies of our great city. Walking through Chicago, we hope to provide examples on how together, we can bring unity to the city. "It motivates me to put my energy towards something more meaningful than myself. I seek to challenge myself and others to take advantage of opportunities for learning and building connections that life presents to us. I think one of the most valuable things we can do as humans is continue to grow and learn from people with different backgrounds. We should bring light to what makes every person unique and utilize our differences in a positive way to build unity among our community"- Parker Parrillo.
