About This Campaign
Pursue Unity is an annual campaign where a group of scholars and supporters walk the entire length of Western Ave. in Chicago to raise funds and awareness for the emerging leaders of Pursue Scholars.
In 2020, the pandemic forced us to cancel our annual fundraising dinner. Immediately, our team started searching for solutions to raise essential funds amid the uncertainty of the time. Former staff member, Solomon Dixon, had the idea to walk 24 miles of Western Ave. across Chicago to draw attention to our scholars and raise money. The event was titled “Pursue Unity.” The momentum of this campaign snowballed with many miracles along the way. With the generosity of so many, the campaign exceeded its initial goal and raised $100,000.
This 24-mile journey of 197 blocks leads walkers through a diverse landscape of neighborhoods and allows interaction with various cultures, some of which are home to Pursue Scholars and alumni.
