STORY

2022-2023 Cross Country / Track & Field Teams

Students on the Cross Country & Track & Field team were strengthened through competition, team building, and spiritual focus this past year.  Witnessing their determination and commitment to their teammates, as well as their dedication to their academic studies, is truly a testament to the goodness of God.

This past year, our focus has been taking advantage of opportunities in the midst of challenging circumstances. Our athletes have learned to make the best of a difficult season and to find joy and contentment even with limited chances to compete. They have responded by spending time together engaged in fun team building opportunities, and encouraging and supporting each other in academic pursuits through study groups. Their positive “can do” attitude in the midst of this crazy year and their sharp focus on team and individual development has been truly inspiring. They have embraced the fact that “something is better than nothing” and have grown as people and as athletes as a result. Through the practices, team gatherings, one on one meetings, and literally hundreds of casual conversations our students were able to further develop their individual skills and abilities, while also growing as a team, and strengthening their faith.

This year Women’s Track & Field finished 23rd at NAIA Indoor National Championships with Maria Alarcon and Nayeli Cisneros placing 3rd and 5th in the 3,000M Race walk earning All American honors. Women’s Cross Country placed 3rd at NCCAA Nationals with Kasey Moreno and Marie Mayer earning All American status. At the CCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships we celebrated 9 conference champions and had a total of 15 athletes earn all-conference honors.
