We will be continuing our partnership with Good Shepherd Church as we encourage the church leaders and provide practical ministry assistance in the village of San Antonio Rio Hondo. This will be our eighth trip to Belize and we are thankful to continue this partnership. We are also proud to announce that in May, we celebrated our first Judson graduate from Belize!
Our team will be leading church services, building relationships through sports ministry, teaching vacation bible school programs, assisting the teachers in the local elementary school and helping with service projects. Good Shepherd Church is very intentional about serving its own community. We will be serving alongside the leaders of this church, as they have specifically asked for encouragement and assistance in their work.
During these uncertain times with Covid-19, we want you to know that we have an alternative plan in place to still serve our Belizean friends should we be unable to travel to Belize. We have a partnership with the large Belizean community in northern Illinois that is comprised of primarily relatives of our friends in San Antonio Rio Hondo. If we cannot travel to Belize due to travel restrictions, we will still serve our Belizean friends in northern Illinois during spring break, living in their community and accomplishing many of the same objectives.
Most importantly, we ask for your support in prayer for our team that will be traveling to Belize. Pray that their actions and words will reach a child’s life, a teen’s heart and an elder’s soul. Pray that they can be a light of hope for those who need it, especially during these challenging times. Please also pray that their lives can be forever impacted as they learn from the people of Belize and as they humble theyselves before God.
Also, we ask you to prayerfully consider supporting Judson’s Global Outreach efforts in partnering with this organization. Each participant needs to raise about $1,400 to support the work they will be doing with Good Shepherd Church and our Belizean friends.
