Learn About Eating Disorders
While eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder, affect millions of people worldwide, there is hope for recovery and healing. With increased awareness and understanding of the complex psychological and physiological factors underlying eating disorders, effective treatment options are available. For example, evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and family-based therapy, have been shown to be effective in treating eating disorders. Additionally, support groups and peer mentoring programs are providing valuable support to individuals in recovery. According to the National Eating Disorders Association, 20 million women and 10 million men in the United States will develop an eating disorder at some point in their lives. However, with early intervention and access to quality care, individuals with eating disorders can achieve full recovery and live healthy and fulfilling lives.
