Who We Are

BACKGROUND OF BARR CHRISTIAN VOCATIONAL CENTER Communities in Northern Uganda have been devastated by the Lord’s Resistance Army, which has terrorized the region for more than twenty years, destroying homes, killing family members, stealing anything valuable, and abducting children to be used as soldiers. In addition to the loss of human life, animals, and property, many churches, schools, granaries, and health centers were burnt down. Owing to the above situation the people have been suffering in the camps, especially widows whose husbands were abducted and killed by the Lord’s Resistance Army. Many men and women have died of HIV/AIDS leaving orphans, vulnerable children, and disabled children who can no longer attend school. Women and children’s human rights are abused, HIV/AIDS infection rate is very high, and young girls are vulnerable to sexual exploitation. There is no education at any level and no healthcare services, which has led to the death of many people. Famine and hunger are widespread for the people of Barr Sub County and Northern Uganda in general due to lack of adequate rainfall and very low food production. This situation is intensified due to the fact that there are no economic activities going on in Barr Sub County that can up lift the vulnerable communities from poverty, ignorance, and disease. We have tried to look for funds for ten years now for the construction of the vocational training center but up to now have failed to get funds. The children of God are crying for help from us but we don't have any means of helping them. They don't have food to eat, children's right are abused, no clothes to put on, no sleeping materials and no education at all among others. The community of Ayira parish and Barr sub county are in total despair. THE PROJECT WE ARE REQUESTING FUNDING FOR IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BARR CHRISTIAN VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER AS BELOW; PROJECT DESCRIPTION The proposed permanent construction work of the vocational training center will include the following; 1- Five storied departmental classroom blocks with one floor up stair. Each block has ten classrooms. 2- One storied Library block with one floor up stair 3- One storied Administrative Block with one floor up stair. 4- Five storied Dormitory blocks with one floor up stair 5- Five storied teachers’ blocks with one floor up stair.. 6- One store block 7- One Dining Hall block 8- Drilling one solar powered water systems for supplying water to the school and the community. 9- Four water bone toilets for the students, two for girls and two for boys. 10- Construction of a perimeter wall fence 11- Electrical work. We have identified 100 acres of land ready to be purchased for the construction of the vocational training center and for charitable work. Currently, we are training twenty students under the trees in the compound of the church because we lack classrooms. When it is raining, we send them home. Potential direct beneficiaries of the school are 4,600 orphans, youth, vulnerable children and school drop-outs, but the indirect beneficiaries of the community of Barr sub-county, will be 25,000 family members and guardians who will benefit from the increased economic opportunities that will come from the vocational training. Barr sub county has 42,000 population The estimated cost for the project is at US $.1,745,750.7 Our organization has already got 15 volunteers teachers with the minimum qualification of Higher Diploma and Degrees in Carpentry and Joinery, Brick laying and Concrete Practices, Tailoring and Designs, Metal Fabrication and welding, Electrical installation and wiring, Motor vehicles Technology, Painting and Decoration,, Home economics and cookery, Hair dressing, Tile laying, Leather and turning and shoe making among others.
