Christians Against Poverty are passionate about working with local churches to release Americans from a life sentence of debt, poverty and its causes – into a life filled with hope and freedom. By working with the church, we bring hope that today will get better and the future will be brighter; we offer freedom from the chains of debt, poverty and its causes; and we share the good news that there is a God who loves and values each individual, and that there is a community to walk alongside and advocate for people every step of the way. CAP was founded by Dr John Kirkby CBE in the UK in 1996 after experiencing personally the devastating impact of debt. From humble beginnings CAP has now grown into a global movement with offices in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and now the USA in 2019.
