Our mission is to assemble and educate a diverse group of individuals, businesses and organizations to improve the Gowanus waterfront in Brooklyn and foster awareness of issues affecting New York- New Jersey harbor. The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club intends to contribute to transforming a dilapidated, historically significant estuary into a self-sustaining, environmentally friendly and healthy waterfront to be enjoyed and treasured by current and future generations. By encouraging waterfront activity and stewardship of the waterway, we reconnect the community with their shoreline. Renewing this relationship strengthens the desire for remediation of our harbor.

Children with disabilities are no different from their peers without limitations and should feel no barriers. They deserve the lives of equal opportunities as they must be able to play and participate among their peers. We aim to make a change that will improve the lives of orphans who are not capable of supporting themselves. The vision of the organization is to be the largest umbrella that can cover as much orphans around the globe without any boundaries and to be able to identify and attend their unique needs through the psychosocial developmental stage of their lives. We strive to be able to recognize and analyze children’s health conditions and attend to their medical needs, regardless of nature. We are aiming to be able to provide medical and surgical services to our orphaned children and those of indigent families any time there is a need. We seek out for a world of love, hope and equality where poverty becomes a memory and children live in safety and dignity.

New Avenues provides a continuum of services, meeting the changing needs of individuals with disabilities throughout the course of their lifetime. New Avenues’ programs are currently serving over 700 individuals, ages 3-90 years in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Summit counties, Ohio. The individuals served include those with disabilities and chronic health conditions such as developmental disabilities, mental illness, autism, cerebral palsy, brain injury, and Down syndrome.
