ACHUNGO COMMUNITY CENTER
Achungo is dedicated to transforming the lives of orphans and destitute children in Kenya, providing care and education, giving them hope and a future, while nurturing integrity and responsibility. We provide food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and education for orphaned and destitute children, currently serving 277 children ages 3 to 17 in preschool through 8th grade and sponsoring 15 in various high schools. Our long- term goal is to enable all who are able to complete secondary school, college and/or vocational training that equips them to be able to support themselves.

Our namesake, Gilda Radner, was one of the original cast members of “Saturday Night Live.” Throughout her time on the show, she created a number of enduring characters, including Roseanne Roseannadanna, Emily Litella and Lisa Loopner. Laughter and love were central themes of Gilda’s career and life, including in her marriage to actor and comedian Gene Wilder, the original Willy Wonka.

Our efforts focus on the specific needs of children aged prenatal to five in low-income families, with the hope of seeing every child in Colorado get off to the best start possible. Currently, we serve 12,000 children and families a year in 61 of Colorado's 64 counties. We partner with community leaders, care providers, and donors to deliver our programs, ensure their effectiveness, and expand our impact.
