Brief summary of organization’s history. PROPEL – People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership – was founded in 2004 by a small group of Boca Raton businessmen and community leaders to support the educational achievement and leadership development of the area’s less fortunate youth. In a city with a median household income of $71,468, 35% greater than Palm Beach County as a whole and 51% greater than that of Florida; over 90% of our youth come from households with an average family income of less than $42,244 (just 60% of the City’s). Most of our kids live in Dixie Manor, Pearl City, along Dixie Highway North to Delray Beach, inner city Deerfield Beach, and in Section 8 housing throughout the area.

*KISORO COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS ASSOCIATION (KCVA) *Who we Are* *KCVA* is a local, volunteer-driven NGO/CBO based in *Kisoro District, South-Western Uganda*. Started in the early 2000s by Kisoro residents who wanted to tackle poverty, HIV/AIDS, and poor farming yields in their own communities. *What we Do* KCVA *utilizes* local volunteers, international volunteers and partnerships to run programs in 5 main areas: 1. *Farming & Food Security* Trains small holder farmers on improved potato, beans, and vegetable farming. Teaches post-harvest handling, kitchen gardens, and links groups to markets. 2. *Women & Youth Empowerment* Forms Village Savings groups + SACCOs. Teaches record keeping, bargaining, and business skills. Helps women speak up in community meetings. 3. *Health Support* Community education on malaria, nutrition, maternal health, and HIV/AIDS. Home visits for vulnerable families. Supports school fees for orphans. 4. *Environment* Tree planting and soil conservation on Kisoro’s steep hills. Works to reduce conflict between farmers and wildlife near Mgahinga Gorilla Park. 5. *Education* Back-to-school drives for girls, adult literacy circles, and scholastic materials for vulnerable kids. *How we Work* -Volunteer model : Trained local volunteers mobilize communities and follow up weekly. Keeps costs low, trust high. - *Partnership model*: KCVA doesn’t work alone. Shelter Animal Resource Alliance (S.A.R.A.) is a nonprofit organization located in Eugene, OR, dedicated to removing animals from shelters where they might otherwise face euthanasia. While in our care, we provide these cats and dogs with a safe and comfortable environment to live in, all necessary medical care, high-quality food and treats, and plenty of love and attention until we are able to find them their forever homes. S.A.R.A. funds this lifesaving work with a high quality second hand shop, S.A.R.A.'s Treasures. All items are donated by members of the community. All profits earned in the thrift store directly support the animals in the rescue program.
