We build whole people, whole families, and whole communities, thereby transforming the culture of mission and ministry. Family Empowerment Centers is at the forefront of creating pathways of opportunity for under-resourced individuals and families to experience greater joy and, therefore, greater hope in their future. We do this with a passionate desire to honor God and love our neighbor. Our goals are to provide programming and safe opportunities for the at-risk youth and individuals in our neighborhood, teach adults to learn English, and provide families access to food resources- all while training the next generation of leaders.

M2M serves around 50 boys each year by providing weekly tutoring sessions and mentoring that focuses on improving academic performance, developing strong character, and good communication skills.

Teachers in Space, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization which stimulates student interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by providing their teachers with extraordinary space science experiences and industry connections. Our professional development workshops for STEM teachers include personal and experimental flight opportunities, hands-on work with data sensors and remote device control, opportunities to meet and interact with scientists and developers at NASA and commercial space companies, and unique teaching materials and design contests to take back to the classroom. Teachers In Space, Inc. sparks a transfer of passion for space science and exploration from teachers to their students, preparing and encouraging those students to pursue further education and exciting, rewarding careers in the emerging space industry.

The Ten Thousand Villages store in Alexandria has been a fixture in Old Town since 1994, and our loyal customers have made us one of the most successful stores in the country, thus ensuring steady income and better lives for hundreds of artisans in the developing world. As we approach our 21th anniversary in 2015 we are building on that success to strengthen and deepen the fair trade connection in the national capital region. We completed a successful campaign and Alexandria became the first Fair Trade Town in Virginia as well as in the DC metro region. And, even more exciting, we are currently raising money to establish a second store in the District of Columbia!
