In neighborhoods often overrun by poverty, crime and a feeling of hopelessness, Heart of Los Angeles invests in youth to build stronger and healthier communities. Heart of Los Angeles gives some of the city’s most vulnerable youth a chance to succeed in life. HOLA provides underserved youth with exceptional programs in academics, arts and athletics within a nurturing environment, empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education and strengthen their communities.

Our programs are about spending time with a child. We pair a volunteer mentor one to one with a child and we call this a match. Once matched, Big Brothers and Big Sisters develop friendships with their Little Brothers and Little Sisters. It’s that simple.

CBF protects and restores the Chesapeake Bay through advocacy, litigation, and restoration. CBF's advocacy efforts are designed to help states implement plans to restore the Bay and hold states and the federal government accountable for staying on the course of restoration. Through CBF's restoration work, we aim to improve the capacity of rivers, streams and the Bay to treat pollution by protecting and restoring the Bay's natural filters through hands-on projects: building shoreline buffers, planting trees and shrubs, and raising oysters.

Our participants give back to our organization, their communities, or both in the same spirit from which they received.
