CHATTANOOGAS KIDS ON THE BLOCK INC

Chattanooga's Kids on the Block is one of the oldest, most active and most respected troupes in the United States and Canada. We serve 16 counties in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. We perform an average of 300 interactive, educational programs and serve over 45,000 children and adults in our community annually. The educational curriculum uses the non-threatening medium of puppetry called Bunraku, a Japanese form of puppetry, to introduce sensitive issues to children in the classroom or community setting. The puppeteers/artists/educators dress completely in black and become the shadow behind the puppet. This illusion allows for a unique and effective form of education. As our puppets come to life, children identify with them and open up as if they were trusted friends. We are licensed to perform all 45 of the national programs and have develop an additional six programs, all targeted to youth between Pre-Kindergarten and sixth grade and families.
