Coulee Council was organized by community members in 1968. The agency initially functioned as an information and referral center. While continuing as a clearinghouse of information, the Coulee Council expanded services to include prevention and education, assessments and interventions, and recovery support activities. Dedicated volunteers and generous community support have allowed the Council to strengthen our community for over 45 years.
Coulee Council provides a Drop-In Center, which provides a chemical-free environment for recovering people, their families and their friends. The Drop-In Center sponsors special recreational events such as JAVA Jam (open mic), Karaoke, dances, pool league, game night, football/basketball game day/night, kids movie night Thursdays during NA meeting), Women's Craft Nights, Outdoor Recovery Project, Turned Leaf Family Festival (Alternative to Oktoberfest), SMART recovery group, Get Your Loved One Sober class/group, and numerous AA and NA support group meetings. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon, we offer a free meal after an open 12-step meeting, and on Saturdays, we offer breakfast before the AA meeting.
Most Saturdays Coulee Council provides the Recovery Education Discussion Group. Community professionals share their expertise and guide discussions focusing on skills necessary for healthy, balanced, sober living. Topics include, but not limit to, money management and recovery, living spiritually, healthy eating on a budget, acupuncture, AIDS resource Center of WI. and cross-addictions.
