Up to 300 socio-economically disadvantaged children in Jamaica have been diagnosed with moderate to severe scoliosis and are on a waiting list for government-sponsored corrective surgery.
Since March 2012, DTF's complex spine mission to Jamaica has been focused on corrective scoliosis surgeries for the patients under 20 years old. And although healthcare is free for young people 18 and under, the Jamaican Healthcare system doesn't have the capacity to assist these patients.
Where We Work
What We Do
In support of our medical training mission, in April 2013, over 100 medical professionals received CME credits in Blood Management. And, between the first two mission trips 250 plus medical professionals received advanced medical lectures from the highly skilled DTF medical team.
