Family Enrichment Center's mission is to empower families and prevent child abuse.
Family Enrichment Center was founded in 1977 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, by a small group of concerned citizens who wanted to raise community awareness and prevent child abuse. In 1979, the agency was incorporated under the name Child Protection, Inc. Family Enrichment Center is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. In an effort to meet the needs of at-risk, stressed families, the agency's first program – Wee Care Nursery – was established as a crisis nursery providing childcare three nights a week. Through the years, the agency has grown to offer eight programs in the Barren River Area Development District in support of its mission to empower families and prevent child abuse. Family Enrichment Center has an established history of success and longevity in the Barren River Development District of south central Kentucky. Our programs are designed to assist families who want to 1) enhance and improve their parenting skills, 2) increase their knowledge in the areas of child development, and/or 3) prevent or cease child abuse or neglect in order to stop the cycle of violence. For more than 37 years, Family Enrichment Center has provided parents with self-help groups, education and resource referral assistance. We have been a Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky Local Council Affiliate for 19 years.
