1995 - 2002 In 1995, Sean Dunn founded Champion Ministry Inc. and transitioned to a full-time role with the organization in 1997. He focused on his speaking and writing in the early years. Although Dunn spoke to 150,000 young people in 2002, he was moved to transition from attracting audiences to reaching out to those less likely to hear the gospel. 2003 - 2014 Inspired by God to reach those who don’t want to be reached, Dunn refocused the ministry and changed the name to Groundwire in 2003. The ministry also began using media to share the good news with radio commercials, which became the ministry’s identity. Online chat began in 2006 and nationwide TV commercials began in 2009. 2015 - Present In 2015, a significant breakthrough occurred when the ministry was given the opportunity to purchase JesusCares.com for $1. That website has become the focus for the ministry. In 2016, Groundwire began conducting local outreaches in select cities. In 2017, a Spanish language website was launched. Also around that time the ministry began to focus solely on digital messaging to connect hurting people with those who listen and demonstrate Jesus’ loving care.
