Our Mission

Laulima Pahoa is a successful volunteer non-profit unincorporated association established in the County and State of Hawai'i in 2016. The specific purposes for which this corporation is organized include, but are not limited to: Improving the quality of life in Pahoa Village and Puna communities by inspiring and empowering the people of Pahoa and Puna to become integral parts of improving the community by, eliminating negative elements (crime, vandalism, drug- and alcohol-abuse, graffiti, littering, etc.), strengthening and creating positive elements (youth programs, village beautification, educational, arts and recreational programs for all ages, economic, community development, homesteading education, substance abuse treatment programs, services for the elderly, homeless and infirm, cultural education and celebration programs to facilitate better appreciation and understanding of the Native Hawaiian traditions, beliefs and heritage and to create a creative outlet for the people of Pahoa and Puna, and to bring life back into the Lower East Rift Zone (LERZ) , to help conserve and restore our vital native habitats, as Hawaii is the endangered species capital of the world and permanently incorporated into endangered and threatened articles of incorporation , so that we pave the way for generations to come to protect our planet, and more specifically, the very threatened natural habitat that is the Lower East Rift Zone of Hawai’i island.

Who We Are

We are a 100% volunteer run non profit organization in the county and state of Hawaii, serving our Pahoa communities in all aspects since 2016 , founded by a 30 year puna resident, long time civil rights activist, artist and mother. Her daughter and a couple other very important people in the community , long time residents or natives, make up the rest, and have just recently announced the opening of our Farmers Branch and expansion. We have big visions and we need help. Our Rural and forgotten part of the island ; on one of the most beautiful and diverse habitats on the globe, NEEDS HELP. If we can steadily finalize all of this major Community Homesteading and Educational Hub Headquarters (all the sectors and projects within) it will be the first ever if it’s kind for us in our forgotten , beautiful and rare, diverse wonderland which is also the endangered species capital of the world. Please, please help us to create a safe and secure, self reliant, community central so that no matter what happens in this natural disaster zone we can be assured to bounce back from it all. We have just endured a massive volcanic eruption that wiped out communities in 2018 (Hawaii Island eruption 2018) homes, farms and most importantly livelihoods. Many were cut off and many are STILL WAITING FOR FEMA to help rebuild our roads. The resources anyone needs to survive day by day are virtually non existent here , and being born and raised within these communities, we plan to change this. We have all the volunteers , youth , schools , residents and educators lined up and waiting for our opening in January 2022 and we couldn’t do this without you.
