Route 66 IECA

The Cucamonga Service Station is a nationally recognized Route 66 landmark attracting tourists to the Inland Empire from across the country and around the world as they travel Route 66 to relive that bygone nostalgic era. Built over 100 years ago in 1915 it is one of the few remaining original structures in the California Inland Empire from that era. The station was obtained in 2013 by Route 66 Inland Empire California (IECA), a nonprofit organization and has been restored to its original look as a Richfield station of the 1930s, It is now open to the public as a museum with artifacts of local and Route 66 history. The Cucamonga Service Station has been designated as a local landmark by the city of Rancho Cucamonga, was recognized by the Native Sons of the Golden West with the dedication of a bronze marker and revived a Preservation Design Award from the California Preservation Foundation. The station is also listed on National Register of Historic Places and won the 2018 Governor’s Preservation Award. Today, Route 66 IECA operates the station and museum and continues to raise funds with events which include monthly brunches, wine tastings, annual car show, and many other events. Monies raised from these events go to operate the museum and to rebuild the service garage that originally stood behind the station. The garage, which collapsed in 2011, will add about 1000 square feet of museum and office space to the site enabling the association to greatly increase its offerings of historic displays and education and making it a premier attraction in the state for heritage tourism on America’s Mother Road.
