Who We Are
The Artist Lives preserves and celebrates the creative legacies of artists, musicians, and writers who have passed away. By showcasing their work and stories, we help families honor their loved ones and ensure they are remembered for who they were and what they created, not simply how they died.
The Artist Lives is a nonprofit online gallery dedicated to preserving the creative legacies of deceased artists, musicians, and writers who never received public recognition during their lifetimes.
Founded in memory of Ethan Magder, The Artist Lives was inspired by the discovery of Ethan's writings after his death in 2017. What began as a personal effort to preserve one young man's creative work grew into a platform that helps families and estates ensure their loved ones' artwork, writing, and music are not lost to time.
Our gallery features artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, many of whom were lost to addiction, suicide, AIDS, and other causes often accompanied by stigma. By sharing their creative work and personal stories, we help families honor their loved ones, celebrate their talents, and ensure they are remembered for who they were and what they created.
Through art, music, writing, and storytelling, The Artist Lives provides families with a meaningful way to preserve a loved one's legacy while introducing their work to new audiences around the world.
