Our Mission

Our mission is to provide educational, cultural and social services that reconnect Indigenous people in the Puget Sound region to their heritage by strengthening their sense of belonging and significance as Native people.

Who We Are

Founded in 1970 by Bernie Whitebear, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation provides essential, culturally responsive services to urban Natives of all ages throughout the Puget Sound region. Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, where UIATF's main offices are housed, has acted as a land base and home for urban Natives who often feel culturally and socially dislocated from their tribal communities. The first Indian Cultural Center of its kind to be established through direct action protest here in the United States, Daybreak Star is a profoundly important space for the sharing of art, Indigenous knowledge and traditions, ceremony, songs, dance, and more.
