Why? We believe that the best way to learn about cultural differences is to experience it first-hand. Volunteering to do meaningful work is not only beneficial to the community, but it is also self-rewarding.   Returnees usually state that their lives have been changed forever.

Our mission is to enrich the lives and spiritual well-being of all we serve and improve the safety and welfare of our community by equipping each participant with resources to maintain a healthy, self-sufficient, and purposeful life. Our vision is that everyone who needs recovery from substance use disorder would have access to safe, stable housing and the necessary support services to promote lifelong healing, family reunification, and community transformation.

The S.H.E. College Fund

The S.H.E. College Fund (SCF) provides full scholarships for college, university, or trade school education along with comprehensive life skills training and mentorship to young women of Narok County who have been at risk for harmful traditional practices such as Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) and Early Forced Child Marriage (EFCM) and have found refuge at Safe Houses. There, they are sent to primary and secondary school. Once these young women graduate from secondary school they are no longer protected by the safe houses and, though they have been reconciled with their parents, their families do not have the financial means to pay for post-secondary education. By providing these young women with a post-secondary education, SCF makes it possible for them to acquire the knowledge, skills, experience, and self-confidence to go out into the world, secure a job or start a small business, and serve as role models and changemakers in their communities.

Mission The mission of the HeartBright Foundation is to promote cardiovascular wellness through prevention, awareness and partnerships in the Charlotte Mecklenburg area. How do we do it? Mostly through the generosity of our patrons and volunteers. Volunteers provide support in all areas of operations; doctors, instructors, marketing, management and clerical. This generosity of time and skills allows 92 cents of every dollar donated to go directly to programs and services.
