COMMUNITY INVESTMENT CORPORATION, Chicagoland's Leading Multifamily Rehab Lender, is a nonprofit providing mortgage financing to buy and rehab apartment buildings with five units or more in the 6-county metropolitan Chicago area. Since 1999 over 14,000 landlords and managers have completed CIC property management training to help them better market, manage and maintain affordable rental property. CIC also provides below-market financing for multifamily energy improvements in the Energy Savers program. Since 1984 CIC has loaned over $1.1 billion for acquisition and rehab of over 2000 buildings with 55,000 units. In 2012 CIC received the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.

Food for Others, Inc.
For people who have lost a job, suffered a mental or physical health setback, or are struggling to overcome other obstacles to independence, Food for Others provides free food in these ways: 1) Warehouse Emergency food to individuals and families: We provide 3-5 days' worth of non-perishables, as well as milk and eggs and other fresh food for those referred to us by social-service providers. Those clients who also qualify based on low income may also receive monthly food supplements that we order on their behalf from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA. 2) Neighborhood Sites Distributions - We provide limited but free groceries to people via volunteers to sites in low-income neighborhoods every evening Monday through Friday, no questions asked. 3) Community Partners: We provide bulk food items to about 20 community-based organizations on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for churches, homeless shelters, and other groups serving at-risk residents to provide to their clients food. 4) Power Pack Program (P3): We provide weekend food for elementary school children in Fairfax Public Schools, primarily children in the free and reduced-price meals program, and others referred by school counselors, to make sure kids don't go hungry on weekends.
